A lot of my posts at first appear to be focused towards classroom management techniques. When I look at what would be beneficial for most people at first, it would be the ability to find easier ways to do online what they currently do with possibly paper and pencil. After you have used some of these techniques in makes it seem more manageable to move onto uses of technology. What I want to talk about this time is on the use of different websites you can go to to use different classroom management tools.
I also like to share how people in different areas can use these and I have to say that pretty much everything on here could be used by almost everyone in teaching. In some cases they may seem more geared towards lower grades, but there are plenty of times that theses could be used in the upper grades as well.
These are two different easy classroom management tools and I will be writing more in depth on other ones that are available.
Timers
Many times teachers use timers for different reasons. You may have even bought a special big timer to display in your room to make it easy for people to see. Well there are many sites that offer a free timer that you can use to display onto a projector, or onto the screen of a laptop, which provides a much easier display in most cases and easier to have around if you always have a computer attached to a projector, or carry one around to teach your class.
http://www.online-stopwatch.com/full-screen-stopwatch/
This is an easy page that provides a full screen stop watch or timer for a teacher to use to display the time to a student.
http://timer.onlineclock.net/
This is another one that provides a large timer, however it does not have the save time options as other one listed.
Random Choosers
http://www.unpracticalmath.com/applets/virtual_spinner_small.html
This page create a large dial that will spin when clicked to choose a number. You can add multiple spots and customize with colors. The kids would need to have some connection though with each one knowing a color, or something similar.
http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks1/maths/dice/
This page allows you to create some different dice with different sides. It will allow you to then roll and get a random number. It also allows you to custom some with sides and to put words or letters on a side of the dice instead of a number.
http://decidefor.us/flip-a-coin/
This page has a spot to click and get a random coin flip. There are also links for dice rolls as well.
http://www.barryfunenglish.com/enter/toolsRandomStudent.php
This webpage allows you to type or paste in a list of kids and then creates a random choosing of those kids. It even allows the option of deleting the kids from the list after being chosen. It also appears to allow you to save lists assuming you keep using the same computer. Otherwise just save a list of kids and paste it into the website each time. The webpage came up looking small, but you can increase the size to a full page.
